How It Works
The CIT Probe is a configurable data collector that will acquire data from local or remote data sources and send the data as an https message to the CIT server. Only outbound https is used for probe / server communication making solutions built with CIT suitable for operating in secure environments.
The probe can operate in 3 modes: polling, streaming and real time. All of which can be run simultaneously.
The CIT Web Information server comprises of a web application, running on a web application server, and a database schema configured on a RDMS.
The server receives data from the probes in the form of a https message sent from a probe. The server will, depending on how it is configured, do one or more of the following : store the data, perform status checks, inform the notification service and send messages to output interfaces for third party integration.
The CIT View Server is a http web server that provides a view of the managed domain that can be accessed through a web browser. The views provide tables, charts and topology diagrams to display information to your requirements.
